House inspired by nature

Objective

A young couple of businessmen and their daughter built a 2260.42 sq.ft. cottage with a pool under the roof and wanted us to create for them a spacious interior in light colors in a modern style, but not minimalistic, but soft and gentle.

There were no more specific requirements, except to ask that the interior must look beautiful and elegant, but at the same time not be prohibitively expensive.

Solution

The first floor was chosen for socializing and spending time together in the family. There is a living room, a kitchen-dining room, a spacious hall with stairs, a small checkroom and a guest bathroom. And the second floor is for work and rest, there is the parents' bedroom, the girl's nursery and the office of the head of the family.

A feature of this space is the high ceilings of 11.48 ft. and the large amount of light in the living room - the area of windows, more than the area of the walls.

Living room

The living room is done in soft milky pearl tones with a deep blue accent.

Wood and stone textures, Benjamin Moore paint, Cahrs hardwood flooring are used in the finishes.

Light natural colors and natural finishing materials create a mood of lightness, warmth and coziness.

Living room at 35,000 ft. above sea level

The large open space of the living room and the huge windows inspired us to create an atmosphere of spaciousness, radiance, and celebration. The living room is reminiscent of the view of the sky from an airplane window 35,000 feet above the ground. The endless white expanse of clouds, flooded with bright warm sunlight, and the huge dark blue sofa showcases the living room's even greater vastness.

A huge light panel on top creates the effect of a transparent roof and adds even more light to the living room.

In the layout, the living room is quite elongated. We divided it into two zones: the conversation area by the sofa in front of the fireplace and the music area by the piano. The big blue sofa forms one zone and the white grand piano and plaster sculptures form the other. In this way we were able to reduce the elongated effect.

The owner loves to play the piano, and we set aside a whole area in the living room especially for her.

The head of the family wanted a real live aquarium. According to feng shui, fish at home bring prosperity and success in business.

The hostess loves plants and we added a flower to the main living room area.

The customer decided to make a living fireplace, not an electric fireplace, to warm himself by it and meditate on the tongues of flame on long winter evenings.

The painting with the mountain above the fireplace also symbolizes the sky and the vastness of space.

Family evenings and big receptions

The huge 452.08 sq.ft. living room flows into the 139.61 sq.ft. dining room, a single space where the family can gather and watch TV in the evening, play with the kids, be alone in it or even invite lots of friends and family for a big party, there is more than enough room.

But this living room is not only a lot of air and space, it combines two opposing elements - fire and water, which can be looked at endlessly. Fire is represented by the traditional fireplace.

The water is represented by an incredibly large aquarium of one and a half meters, so impressive that it seemed that you could even put there a dolphin or a whale.

Kitchen and dining room

In nature, everyone has a very good appetite and even the most ordinary food becomes the most delicious. The cottage itself is located outside the city, but we wanted to create a mood of spring and nature by combining natural wood Kahrs parquet, porcelain stoneware with an imitation of light natural marble Flaviker Supreme Golden Calacatta and soft green herbal shades of chairs.

Bathroom

The client's wife wanted a spacious and bright bathroom in a natural, natural style that would inspire. We created a space where you can feel like a goddess and experience the fullness of beauty and femininity.

Natural textures in this bathroom are represented by imitations of marble, travertine and wood. A huge window gives a special chic and charm to this bathroom. The subtle notes of the classic interior and the warm range of light colors create a loving spring mood.

Bathroom interior features

This bathroom uses only two colors: ivory and beige and two natural textures: wood and stone.

In order to maintain the delicacy of the interior and without increasing the contrast to make it non-monotonous textures of wood and stone alternate in vertical and horizontal.

The bright accent, the star in the center of this solar bathroom system is the round chrome Tom Dixon Mirror Ball Pendant Light.

Bedroom

The inspiration for this bedroom and continuation of the nature theme was the forest. It is great when the morning begins with a pleasant and positive impression. So, when customers open their eyes, they find themselves inside a forest fairy tale.

The interior is predominantly light, but with harmonious and confident dark textures of natural wood. We worked very carefully with the green color, there is just as much of it as necessary, and it is quite soft and natural.

The bedroom has a minimum of furniture, only the essentials.

A chandelier with vertical lines creates an atmosphere of magic and descending light. It echoes the horizontal lighting along the forest wall, which recalls the dawn on the forest skyline.

 Office

The 193.75 sq.ft. office is in the main light color scheme of the house, but since it is a real man's space, it has dark accents: a sofa, curtains and a wall with imitation of natural stone.

There is a lot of light in the office, with a large window in each of the two walls.

Kid's room

The huge 290.63 sq.ft. children's room makes it comfortable to relax, study and play alone or with friends.

The atmosphere of radiance and fairy tale was chosen as the main mood of the space.

Two large windows, a chandelier and the basic white color of the walls and furniture visually enlarge the nursery.

Hall

A spacious hallway space of 258.33 sq.ft. combines two functional areas: a corridor with a bathroom and a laundry and stairs to the second floor.

In addition, the hallway is a buffer zone from which you can move into the kitchen or living room, before putting the car keys on the console.

The hall is always the business card of an apartment. And in this image we put a lot of space and light, blooming in the form of a picture of Japanese sakura and a nearby ornamental tree.

A separate noteworthy element of the lobby is the staircase to the second floor with steps of natural oak and glass railings, as if floating in the air.
