Objective
The interior was created for a girl with a creative profession as a curator of contemporary art and her children. The wishes were such that the interior was spacious, not overloaded, with the possibility of using it as an exhibition space. There should be black color in the interior.
Solution
The main idea of the project and its main task is to reflect the personality of the customer through the style close to the customer, interior functionality, colors and finishing materials. At one of the first meetings the customer brought to the restaurant a beautiful book on New York interiors, it turned out that she loves them very much and often turns to this book for inspiration. I turned to the Mid-century modern style and based myself on it.
Two-level living room
The first level is set aside for the living room, this is where friends come and this is where the hostess spends time with her children, on the second floor of the living room is the bedroom.
Noble red
The idea for this shade came from the customer's wish for a bedroom. She wanted a red bedroom, but since the room was shared, we decided to do everything in red. We offered several variants of red, and the owner chose a softer and darker color.
The charm of natural oak
Natural wood motifs are expressed in the oak parquet flooring and in the wooden finish of the staircase. The abundance of wood gives the living room and bedroom a natural atmosphere and softens the emotional red color.
Bedroom
The client originally wanted to create a library in the bedroom, but then changed her mind and opted for maximum space. Given the low ceiling height of 8.69 ft. we suggested a flat ceiling light fixture.
Places to read
The customer had a dream of waking up in a red bedroom reading books and we fulfilled this wish by offering several places for reading.
Kitchen
The idea of the kitchen is a maximum of natural wooden fronts and open shelf space on the right. Warm kitchen fronts and untoned oak on the floor create a golden range, which is emphasized by gold in the fittings of kitchen handles, fixtures and faucets.
Dining area
In order to create a dining area in this location with excellent natural light from the window, we needed to raise the kitchen floor 10 in. up, as otherwise the drain from the kitchen sink would not work.
Vintage furniture
The customer picked up the vintage kitchen dining table and chairs.
Glass block wall
The glass block wall both separates the dining area in the kitchen from the pass-through area, and allows light to pass through to the staircase area.
Graphic bathroom
For the bathroom on the second floor we used Kerlife Metro tile, to reference both the classic bathrooms of England and the New York subway theme, and on the floor in both bathrooms is Equip Octagon tile, but in different colors. In the shower room it is black and in the bathroom it is white.
Black and white are the characteristic colors of the interior
The black and white motif is maintained in the hallway, where the mirror, skirting boards, light fixtures, sockets and switches, as well as doors are black accent contours.
First floor living room
The living room of the first floor was planned as a movie room, directly on the white wall opposite the sofa projected image.
Finishing materials
The living room continues the black-and-white scheme with black accents in the form of window frames and lamps: chandeliers and sconces. Benjamin Moore paint on the walls and oak parquet on the floor.
Tea area
The main place of action in the living room is by the sofa, and an alternative one by the entrance. We suggested making a tea area there, where you can also play board games together.
No curtains
The customer does not like curtains, so there are none in the whole apartment, and this emphasizes the laconism of the interior.
